This is my Grandma Randall…
I love this picture. It is just like she WAS Betty Crocker. I wish that we could talk recipes today. I wish we could talk about our mutual love of daisies and owls. I miss her. I really think we could have had alot of fun in the kitchen together. I mean, she was the grandma who would put Cheez Whiz on a piece of celery, we would lick it out and she would put more on. That is my kind of cooking.
Today I would like to share Grandma Randall’s recipe for spaghetti sauce in honor of National Spaghetti Day tomorrow! I got this great new book called FoodFest 365!: The Officially Fun Food Holiday Cookbook. I think it is going to come in real handy.
When I would come home from school and this was in the crockpot, I knew it would be a great dinner. The smell was mouthwatering. It was the only thing that I ever liked that came out of a crockpot. Yes, times have changed but the deliciousness of this sauce has not. It is of course easier to open up a jar of Prego or Ragu but this is worth it.
And if you want a true “this is how my family does it” experience, top it with a spoonful of cottage cheese. Oh dang. Love it.
So celebrate Spaghetti Day tomorrow! I think I will have mine with some Cheez Whiz covered celery on the side…just for your Grandma.
